IS Margot Robbie set to land her first local job since Neighbours? Robbie is set for a big 2016 and it could get even more action-packed if she scores the lead role in Banjo and Matilda, The Story of Waltzing Matilda.
Confidential can reveal that the Gold Coast actor’s name is being thrown around as a possible Christina Macpherson. Macpherson is credited with having played the tune that inspired Banjo Patterson to write the words to Waltzing Matilda, and will be a major role in the movie set to be filmed in Queensland next year. […]
Other Aussie actors of Robbie’s stature are also being considered for the role. Up-and-coming star Teresa Palmer, who is currently filming withMel Gibsonon his latest movie. Hacksaw Ridge, is one.
Rose Byrne is also in the mix. With several big Hollywood flicks under her belt, securing Byrne to play Macpherson would be a major win. […]
Banjo and Matilda is expected to start filming mid-2016 in Longreach and Winton.
Apparently, Rose may have a new project which isn’t surprising since she only have one pending project right now, The Something. Only one website relay the information so maybe we should stay prudent for the moment. I really hope this rumor is true, it would be amazing to see Rose opposite Susan Sarandon.
Lorene Scafaria has signed on to direct THE MEDDLER, with Rose Byrne, Susan Sarandon and J.K. Simmons attached to star. The film’s plot is being kept under lock and key, as the project is still unannounced. The roles Byrne, Sarandon, and Simmons will play are also currently under wraps, but their inclusion in the film elevates the project’s status. I’m also hearing that the budget for the film will be raised significantly following the A-list attachments. With no information having been previously released, Scafaria’s attachment is a huge boost for the indie production’s future.
Scafaria burst onto the scene after writing the Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist adaptation. She also wrote and directed the apocalyptic romance Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which stars Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley. Next up, she’s set to serve as an executive producer on Relanxious and will write Man And Wife and 40 Days of Dating. She also recently starred in 2014′s Coherence.

Bill Murray, we loves ya… but maybe it’s Kristen Wiig’s turn to aim a proton gun at the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? In exciting news, Paul Feig — director of Bridesmaids and last year’s Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy buddy-cop flick, The Heat — is currently “in talks” to get the gang back together for an all-female Ghostbusters movie, according to Variety.
A new film in the franchise has long been in the works, but a script by The Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg was shelved after star Harold Ramis passed away in February, and Ivan Reitman — the director of 1984’s original Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel — exited the project, leaving Feig as the job’s new frontrunner and with Sony’s blessing to reboot the series with an all-female focus.
“Signing Feig would be great news for Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, and maybe Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Rebel Wilson […]” wrote Deadline’s Mike Fleming in a piece titled ‘Do We Want An Estrogen-Powered Ghostbusters?’
