In exciting news, Paul Feig — director of Bridesmaids and last year’s Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy buddy-cop flick, The Heat — is currently “in talks” to get the gang back together for an all-female Ghostbusters movie, according to Variety.
A new film in the franchise has long been in the works, but a script by The Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg was shelved after star Harold Ramis passed away in February, and Ivan Reitman — the director of 1984’s original Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel — exited the project, leaving Feig as the job’s new frontrunner and with Sony’s blessing to reboot the series with an all-female focus.
